Srinagar is the summer capital of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The scintillating hill resort is ideally located in the Kashmir valley. Srinagar offers the spectacular sights of the lovely lakes and the houseboats on them. The dry fruits and the traditional Kashmiri handicrafts are the other major attractions of the hill resort.
Tourists from all over the world are attracted by the paradise city due its beauty and the wonderful Tourist Attractions in Srinagar. In the summer months Srinagar is an ideal getaway holiday destination. The lovely lakes and the beautiful houseboats over them are the striking sights of the city. The natural and aesthetic beauty of this place is mind blowing. Srinagar is rewarded as the pride of the beautiful valley of Kashmir.
The commonly spoken languages in the Kashmir Valley are Hindi, Urdu, Kashmiri, and English. The people of Srinagar are tall and fair and the sight of rosy-cheeked children going to school or rowing small boats on the Dal Lake is a picturesque sight.
Located on the banks of the Jhelum River, which is a tributary of the Indus River, the city of Srinagar at 876 km north of Delhi is almost paradise on earth with numerous lakes and valleys spread throughout the land.
The city of paradise changed many hands from time to time. Under the rule of the Kushans in the 1st century ad and was an important Buddhist center. Srinagar was then a part of the kingdom of Vikramaditya, the ruler of Ujjain during 6th century. Until the 14th century local Hindu ruled the heaven place. In the medieval period Srinagar was a part of the Mughal Empire. When Ranjit Singh defeated the Pathans In 1814, it became a part of the Sikh empire. The descendents of Gulab Singh ruled Kashmir under the vigilance of the British till 1947.
Srinagar lies in the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir. The city is located in the western part in the Kashmir valley and is very well connected to the major cities by road. Srinagar tourism suggests the travelers to visit the various places of interest nearby Srinagar.
The geographical location makes this place a pleasant resort from tropical heat, since Climate in Srinagar remains normal during summer. From the month of March to the month of May Spring season lasts, and the time when hundreds of thousands of flowers blossoms all around the area. The weather during Spring is pleasant and chilly with temperatures ranging between 23 degree C and 6 degree C. Starting from the month of May and runs until the month of August summer seasons the daytime temperature ranges between 21-30 degree C.
The loveliest season of the beautiful valley of Kashmir Autumn season, starts in the month of September. Srinagar experiences the highest daytime temperature during September of about 23 degree C in the night the temperature as low as 10 degree C. The winter season starts from the month of December and runs until the month of February. The city of Srinagar receives some snowfall between the months of December and February.

By Air: Located at a distance of 14 kms from the city the domestic airport in Srinagar is serviced regularly by several private and public airlines, which connect the city to important cities in India, like: Delhi, Mumbai and many more cities.

By Road: Srinagar is covered and connects to important cities in Jammu and Kashmir and North India by an extensive network of road. Distance of important cities from Srinagar Chandigarh (630 km), Delhi (876 km), Jammu (290 km), Leh (434 km), Gulmarg (48 km), Sonamarg (88 km) and Pahalgam (96 km).

By Rail: Jammu is the nearest rail terminal serving the entire region. Major Indian cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai are linked to Jammu by rail.
