| Munnar is the best known of Kerala's hill stations. the scenic attractions of Munnar on Kerala tours with Kerala Backwater. Moonu in tamil means "three" and aar "river". The British Government of South India used this incredibly beautiful hill station in Kerala, as their summer resort, during colonial times. Munnar is a picturesque scope of the lofty Western Ghats. Munnar is situated at an altitude ranging from 1500 to 2695 m and has some of the highest tea estates in India. Munnar has the highest peak in south India, Anamundi, which rises to a height of 2695 m. Munnar is essentially a tea town. The people of Munnar share the culture and traditions of both Kerala and their Tamil neighbours from across the border. |

Most residents of munnar are employed in the Kannan Devan Company or are involved in the tourism business. In 2000, the Government of Kerala declared Munnar as a tourist spot.
Munnar enjoys a salubrious climate. The weather ranges between 0 °C (32 °F) and +10 °C (50 °F) in winter and +15 °C (59 °F) and +25 °C (77 °F) in summer. The tourist season is from August to May. However, even the monsoons are lovely with many streams and rivulets in the area.
