| The highest peak in Coorg is Thadiyandamol or Tadiandamol known as Karnataka's trekking and naturalist paradise. This peak is the second highest in Karnataka at 1,750 meters above sea level. "Highest point" is the literally meaning of the name Tadiandamol. Thandiyandamol Betta is name used by locals to address the peak. The Thandiyandamol trek is rated among some of the best in Karnataka and south India. |

| According to the Puranas the word Kodava means the people blessed by Godmother Kaveri. Where 'Kod' means give or bless and 'avva' means mother i.e. Kaveri are the main ethnic group of Coorg, and a fierce warrior race. Some of India's most valiant and decorated Army officers are Kodavas. The most famous son of Kodagu is Field Marshal Kodandera Madappa Cariappa, the first CommanderinChief (as a general) of the armed forces of free India. |

| The climate of Coorg is very pleasant and can be visited during any time of the year. But the most ideal time to visit Coorg is between September and March. The climatic condition of Coorg is moderate. Summers are reasonably warmer at 25-35 degrees Celsius. Winters are also pleasantly cool at 15-20 degrees Celsius. During December to February, the minimum temperature may dip to 9°C. Coorg experiences heavy rainfall during the months of June, July and August and these incessant showers make the weather cool, wet and humid. |
