Ketty
Near Coonoor a small village Ketty remains almost untouched. One of the biggest reasons to visit this small village is the beautiful landscape surrounding the village. The beauty of the village is enhanced by the flowers that abound in the area make it a most picturesque location. The St Michael Convent is the largest draw to the area after the beautiful scenery. With its green roof the convent creates a pretty picture. The building is set among the local cabbage fields due to its beautiful scenery.
Kotagiri
One of the oldest hill stations in Nigiliri is Kotagiri. The village is surrounded by the typical tea plantation with its gently sloping hills. The main attraction in the place of beautiful and surrounding greenery village Kotagiri is the Rangaswami Rock and Pillar, St Catherine Falls, and Elk Falls. The Kodanad Viewpoint is far the most popular attraction in the area. Exceptional views of the plains, the blue hills, the Moyar River, and the mysterious rising mist is offered by this vantage point.
Lamb's Rock
An excellent picnic spot near by Coonoor is Lamb's rock another vantage point to view the fantastic landscape and the tea and coffee plantations.. On the way to Dolphin's Nose the spectacular spot prefect for recreation and away from the daily busy life, Lamb's rock is located. Another beautiful picnic spot, which can be visited for a day trip from Coonoor, is Lamp's Rock. The place was named after the man Captain Lamb who tried in earnest to open a path to that particular point. There are some classical viewpoints close to Coonoor notably Dolphin's Nose, Lamb's Rock and Lady Canning's Seat. But among them the best can be named as Lamb's Rock.
Sim's Park
On the Northern side of Coonoor Railway Station at an elevation of 1768 to 1798 mts is Sim's park divided into eight major sections. An unusual botanical garden Sim's Park was developed back in 1874 by Mr. J.D. Sims and Major Murray where naturally occurring trees, shrubs and creepers are seen in the park. Many unusual species of plants that have been brought in from a variety of places around the world are housed in the park. Covering twelve acres of undulating land and with beautiful lay out the park is situated in a deep ravine on the northern side of Coonoor. There is an annual fruit and vegetable show that is held in the park that is well attended.
Wellington Golf Park
Near to the vicinity of Coonoor the Cantonment of Wellington is located. The well-respected Defense Services Staff College is located in Wellington. A popular place to stop and enjoy a civilized round of golf and in the midst of the exotic landscape the Wellington Golf Course the touch of normalcy surrounded with the unusual location makes golfing at Wellington's an attractive possibility for many people.
