Catherine Falls
Catherine Falls or St. Catherine's fall is one of the beautiful waterfalls from a height of 250 feet. The falls is surrounded by beautiful views of forest and woodlands, tea plantations and the Mettupalayam plains is the second largest waterfall in the Nilgiris region. From Dolphin's nose point the tourists can view almost the whole expansion of the beautiful Nilgiri hills. Catherine Falls can be viewed from here.
Dolphin's Nose
An enormous rock formation entirely in the shape of dolphin nose unique standing is Dolphin's nose. The view from the top of the rock is really mind blowing are absolutely worth the hard work in climbing to the top. Both to the left and right of Dolphin's Nose there are gigantic ravines found. Catherine Falls with its continuing stream several thousand meters below can be seen from one of the ravines. The Coonoor stream meeting the Kotagiri stream can be spotted from the place. This view point is just 10 km. away from Coonoor.
Droog Fort
Droog fort was once used by Tipu Sultan as an outpost. This great monument is located at a distance of 15 km from Coonoor. As the fort is linked to the local demon Bakasura, the fort is also known as Bakasura Malai. Doorg fort is in such a ruin stage that today only one wall of the fort has survived. An awesome view is offered by the fort of the surrounding places as it is situated about 6000 ft above the plains.
Hidden Valley
The Hidden valley is known for being both impressive and beautiful. One of the perfect place for trekking, the valley offers a breath taking view of the plains below. Accessing the valley is not readily available. Instead, it is necessary to trek to this particular valley. The green, lush landscape combined with the breathtaking mountain views make this trek worth all of the physical exertion. The valley is fantastic when you get there, but half of the fun and enjoyment come from the actual trekking experience. Fabulous views abound as you make your way toward the Hidden Valley. You will not regret for on minute that you choose to take on this excursion. There are several shady walks in Coonoor including Walker's Hill, Brookland's Rd etc.
