Adalaj Vav
A popular excursion spot near the city of Ahmedabad is Adalaj Vav and also one of the major tourist attractions in Ahmedabad. From north of the city, Adalaj Vav is distanced at 19 km. Constructed by Queen Rudabai in 1499 AD, Adalaj Vav is basically a step well. A seven-storied structure is the architecture of Adalaj Vav constructed in the shape of a well and Sanskrit inscription are present narrating the entire history of the place with dates. Stretched in 75.3 meters the step well has three entrance stairs with a stepped corridor and the platform of the structure rests on 16 pillars. Four shrines in the building complete with doors, windows and balconies are housed in the monument. The sculptures depict floral designs, birds, fish and stunning ornamental designs.
Gandhi Ashram
On the banks of the Sabarmati River is the Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad is situated. Gandhi Ashram was the nerve center for the Indian Freedom movement. This Ashram is one of the most significant monuments in Ahmedabad. The Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad was known as Satyagraha Ashram during the lifetime of Mahatma Gandhi. The Vanatshala can be seen in the ashram where Gandhiji first stayed and handlooms were installed.
Kankaria
The biggest lake of Ahmedabad is Kankaria with circumference of 1.4 miles (2.3 km) and also represents the regale history of Ahmedabad. The place around the lake is the most densely populated suburb of the city, mostly consisting of middle class people. Sultan Ahmed Shah built the lake, Kankaria. Nagina Wadi beautiful garden located in the center of the lake is connected through the narrow way.
Lothal
Lothal city's origin and history dated back to 2400 BC and is one of the cities of the ancient Indus valley civilization, located at a distance of 80 kms from Ahmedabad. It is one of the primary sites of archaeology in Gujarat. The place was discovered in the year 1954, and excavation work began on the February 13, 1955. In the bygone times, Lothal has enjoyed the status of being the leading center of trade. Trade of beads, gems and expensive ornaments that were exported to West Asia and Africa were done in the place. Lothal is very well connected to the Ahmedabad city via road and railways.
Nalsarovar
A natural lake, Nal Sarovar is spread in an area of 116 sq. km. Nal Sarovar is famous for housing vivid migrating birds and located about 70km from Ahmedabad. Every year large number migratory birds from Siberia visit this place. The major attractions of the place are flocks of flamingos, a great variety of ducks, geese and pelican. Ancient idol of goddess Hinglaj and Bhurekha are the most prominent among these islets houses.
