| Standing to the east of the Shivaganga Tank, Schwartz Church was built in 1779 AD by Rajah Serfoji in token of his affection for the Rev. C.V.Schwartz of the Danish Mission in the Palace Garden. The enlightened Maratha ruler Serfoji II donated a striking marble tablet to the church when Rajah Serfoji died. |

| Suriyanar Koil (58 km) Lord of Sun |
| Only temple in the Dakshinapatha, exclusively dedicated to Sun god with Usha Devi and Pratyusha Devi --- his consorts along with the other eight grahas, each in a separate shrine around the main shrine in Suryanar Koil. It is believed that the Chola King Kulothunga-I who built the Shrine borrowed this feature. Suriyanar Koil is the only place where the Image of the Sun is worshipped. A horse - the divine vehicle of Lord Sun greets us, like the Nandi in Sivaalayas and Hanuman in Ramaalayas at the entrance of the temple. The main mandir enshrining the Sun God facing west is surrounded by separate shrines for Rahu, Ketu, Chandra, Angaraka, Budha, Sani, Sukra and Brihaspathi. |
