Lake its many Ghats
Pushkar Lake created by the falling of lotus from the hand of Lord Brahma is the belief. One of the most sacred spots and believed that one dip in the waters of lake on Kartika Poornima is equivalent to performing yagnas for several hundred years. Desert on the one side and hills on the other three sides surround the sacred lake. On the snake mountain the cave of Saint Agasthya is located. The Indian counterpart of Shakespeare, Kalidasa had this place as his locale for his Sanskrit drama, Shakuntalam.
Gau Ghat, Brahma Ghat and Varah Ghat are some of the prominent among the ghats. Gau Ghat also called Main Ghat, is the place from which ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were sprinkled into the lake. The spot where Brahma himself is said to have worshipped is Brahma Ghat. The place where Vishnu, the preserver of the Hindu Trinity, appeared in the form of Varaha (a boar), third in the line of his nine incarnations is the Varah Ghat. The mystical water is also believed to cure skin diseases, making Pushkar the Lourdes of the East.
Every November, the sleepy little township of Pushkar in Rajasthan, India comes alive with a riot of colors and a frenzied burst of activity.
Mahadeva Temple
Beautiful Mahadeva temple built in the 19th century is dedicated to Lord Mahadeva. The god is one of the Hindu Trinity that represents Creation, Sustenance and Destruction. Lord Mahadeva is the god of destruction according to the Hindu Puranas.

Lord Mahadeva is almight with ash-smeared
and clad in tiger Skin, holding a Trishul in his hand and bull his vehicle. The river Ganges has been created from His locks of hair. The shrine houses a white marble image of lord Mahadeva with five faces. The idol is adorned with intricately designed ornaments. The structure of the temple, embellished with carvings and sculptures also deserves a mention. A British traveler of the time as described "by far the most remarkable, for the elegance of its structure and the nature of its ornaments, of all the temples Pushkar boasts of."

is made up completely of white marble. This Hindu temple of Lord Shiva is significant for its grace of structure, and is possibly the supreme of all temples in and around the town of Ajmer and Pushkar.
Pushkar Camel Fair
Most people associate the Pushkar Fair with the world's largest camel fair. One of the best shopping bazaars in India is Pushkar were hundreds of shops selling camels, horses, bulls, cows and much more. Animals sold here are low prices and the prices are some of the best in India. Many people spend a day or two for shopping. Especially for camel and horse bargain is must. Since Pushkar fair is added with animal fair, besides the arrival of pilgrims, peasants and farmers with their livestock and the merchants, it is an occasion for villagers from far and near to gather together and enjoy a
welcome break from their harsh life of the arid desert. Rajasthan being a desert area, the fair is the biggest camel market, besides horses, bulls and oxen as a necessity the fair shops are setup and camel races are arranged.
Ramavaikunth Temple
The Ramavaikunth Temple is one of the largest temple in Pushkar. An intricately designed Hindu Temple, constructed in the year 1920, it is one of the sacred temples in Pushkar in Rajasthan and has beautifully sculpted images of no less than 361 different deities. The ornate outer gopuram over the entrance is said that artisans from South India were brought to give this shape to the temple in Pushkar. In order to offer their prayers every year a number of devotees visit the Ramavaikunth Temple in Pushkar.The towering spires of Ramavaikunth Temple make it a beautiful sight for the tourists. A panoramic view of the city and the Pushkar Lake can be cleared viewed from the top of the hill.
Number of tourists are drawn to the unique temple in Pushkar for the architectural marvel of the Ramavaikunth Temple. The Ramavaikunth Temple has a different look quite unlike the other Hindu Temples in Pushkar from towering spires to the pagodas.
Savitri Temple
Savitri is the first wife of Lord Brahma and the temple dedicated to goddess Savitri is the most renowned one out of 400 temples in Pushkar.

The puranas says that Pushkar (determined by drooping a lotus flower) where Brahma was all set to start a Yagna, presence of Savitri was mandatory. Lord Brahma was made to wait by her, irritated at this he married Gayatri the milkmaid to start the Yagna on the most auspicious moment. Savitri in ferocious mood cursed Lord Brahma as he would not be worshipped anywhere else but Pushkar. Behind the temple of Lord Brahma on a hillock stands Savitri Temple. A long series of steps lead to the shrine. A clear view of the Pushkar lake, the surrounding temples and the sand dunes can be seen from the hilltop.
Varaha Temple
Varaha Temple was originally built in the 12th century and was destroyed by the Emperor Aurangzeb. The temple has an interesting and richly ornamented image house and reconstructed BY Raja Sawai Jai Singh II of Jaipur in 1727. The third avatar of Vishnu, Varaha in the form of a boar in order to defeat Hiranyaksha, a demon carried Earth to the bottom known as cosmic ocean. For thousand years the battle between Lord Varaha and Hiranyaksha is believed to have lasted. Earth was restored to its place in the universe by Varaha Swamy carried the Earth out of the ocean between his tusks. Prithvi (Bhudevi) got married to Vishnu in this avatar.
