| Gangaikondas Cholapuram |
| A magnificent temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, known as "GangaikondaCholapuram" against six acres of land. The radiant Shiva Lingam is carved from a single stone. Of all the six lingam's this is the gigantic one. An exhibition of intricate carvings on the hard southern granite stones, discarding the earlier Chola and Pallava style of subtlety and simplicity is the architecture of the temple. |

Vijayanagar Nayaks, Marathas, Moghuls, Carnatic Nawabs, the French and the British are some of the dynasties ruled the fort and it is a popular picnic spot. |

An approximate height ranging from 315 mts. to 1190 mts, these hills offer a temperate climate and a peaceful atmosphere. | Nataraj Temple |
| Nataraj Temple One of the ancient temples of Tamil Nadu, covering an area of 40 acres the temple located in the centre of the town. Air, the presiding deity of the temple and one of the five elements of the universe and is known as Akasa Lingam. 108 Bharatha Natyam Dance poses can be seen on the Eastern tower as well as on Western tower. The Northern tower rises to a height of 42.4 and the eastern tower rises to a height of 40.8 metres. The Sivakamiamman temple, the Sivaganga tank, the thousand pillar hall are other important features of the temple. |

| Neyaveli |
| Neyaveli is one of the biggest industrial complexes in the country and about 30 kms. from Chidambaram via Vadalur. The lignite mined here is used for thermal power generation. Apart from fertilizers ceramic wares and Leco (cooking coal), a number of by-products are also produced from lignite. |

| 16 kms east of Chidambaram, ranks among the most exquisite scenic spot with abundant and varied tourism resources is Pichavaram is about 2800 acers. Water sports like parasailing, rowing and canoeing are also organized. The mangrove forest - trees permanently rooted in a few feet of water are the main attraction. The healthiest mangrove occurrences in the world are the Pichavaram mangroves. Pichavaram consists of a number of islands interspersing a vast expanse of water and covered with green trees. |

| Vaitheeswaram Temple |
| Vaitheeswaram temple temple is situated in and around ten acres with four Rajagopurams in the center of four wide roads. In the temple three deities the Ishwara, the Devi and Muruga are worshipped. Attraction of the temple are the two tall Gopurams eastern and western Gopurams. The ash (Thiruchandu Urundai) is supposed to cure all the diseases. It is prepared from Homa Kundam. Another medicine given is Chandan (sandalwood powder) with Saffron is the belief. Siddamrita Teertham, a very sacred pool in the temple premises and has medicinal properties and it is believed that a bath in the holy waters of the Siddhamirtham tank within the temple complex will cure all diseases. Vaitheeswaran Koil is 22 kilometers from Chidambaram, 110 kilometers from Thanjavur and 16 km from Mayiladuthurai. |
