| The centuries-old Sangameswara temple is situated at the confluence of the Krishna and the Bhavanasi near Muchumarri. The shrine finds a prominent place in Skandapurana. Because of its antiquity Nivruthi Sangameswaram has great spiritual significance and the fact that the temple stands at the confluence. |

| According to puranas the idol was installed by Dharmaraja, the eldest of the Pandavas. A rectangular neem log was installed, as Bhima failed to meet the muhurtham in fetching the idol. A place some distance away was given the idol brought by Bhima later. |

| Pancheswaram (Sangameswaram, Sidheswaram, Kapileswaram, Someswaram and Malleswaram) is the temple complex popularly known. Idol removed after the construction of the Srisailam dam and the temple was partly demolished. The temple was retained and the idol repositioned after the intervention of the Paramacharya of Kanchi. The ancient idols were lost during the transition. |
