INDIRA PARK
Park is a novel addition to the cities bountiful plethora of parks and gardens, A paradise in green. Indira Park is the newly built park of Hyderabad. Emerald green area Indira Park is spread over 76 acres of lush green area and it lies alongside the Hussain Sagar. Late Faqruddin Ahmed, the then President of India, laid the foundation stone for Indira Park in September 1975.
Month of September when the planning to develop this park began. The authorities were very active to finish off the park within a very few years and the complete picturesque Indira Park was opened to the public in 1978. It is named after the former Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. It is one of the oldest parks in Hyderabad.
The very nomenclature of the park vouches for the fact that it's a sort of homage paid to our late Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi. In fact the name does a lot to make it so popular. Being one of the oldest parks of Hyderabad it is an amazing entertaining zone
A small lake in the middle of the park facilitates for boating. The computerized musical dancing fountain and waterfalls, commercial nursery and rose garden are the added attractions. The park also has game facilities for children. Katta Maisamma Temple is nearby.
It is a pleasant entertainment park for not only the tourists but also the people residing near the Park. The landscaping of Indira Park was very exceptionally planned and designed, without disturbing the natural elements already present in Park such as wild date palms, keuvda plantations and beautiful Sandalwood trees.
The Park also homes fruit plants like mango, kala jamun (Indian Blackberry). There is also a canteen which stocks cool drinks and snacks in case anyone feels hungry
In 1994, computerized Musical Dancing Fountains and waterfalls, commercial nursery and rose garden were added as further attractions to enhance the beauty of the Park. The Musical Fountains, artificial waterfalls , a rose garden and a commercial nursery adds more splendor to the garden.
