Sultan Mohammed Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 in honour of his wife Bhagmati built the great monument charminar, shortly after he had shifted his capital from Golconda. | The history of Hyderabad begins with the establishment of the Qutub Shahi dynasty. Owing to the inadequacy of water and frequent epidemics of plague and cholera Quli Qutub Shah established the new city with the Charminar at its centre with four great roads fanning out in four cardinal directions. |

| As per the legends, Quli Qutb Shah pleaded to the Lord to provide relief from the plague and took the vow to erect a 'mosque' in return. The construction of the mosque started and it came to be known as 'Charminar'. The four spires (minarets) of the mosque probably depict the first four khalifs of Islam. It has four storeys and the top-most storey has the mosque that includes 45 covered prayer spaces and some open space to accommodate more people for Friday prayers. |

| Charming structure define as its name from four intricately carved minarets, the four graceful minarets which means 'Four Minars'. Char Minar is a monument, on its each side having 20 meters. Every side opens into a plaza through giant arches, which overlook four major thoroughfares and dwarf other features of the building except the minarets. Each arch is 11 metres wide and rises 20 metres to the pinnacle from the plinth. Elevates to the height of 48.7 m above the ground on each of the four corners boasts of an intricately carved spire. Every minaret has four storeys that appear like a gracefully carved ring around the minaret. One can reach the highest point of the monument by taking a flight of 149 steps and admire a spectacular view of the city |
